The story
Origins and context
The Shirin Bika Aqa Mausoleum dates to the late fourteenth century and is generally associated with a sister of Timur. As with several tomb identifications at Shah-i-Zinda, relationships should be stated cautiously where scholarship differs.
Architecture and meaning
Its façade uses mosaic faience and inscriptions, while the interior preserves painted decoration. The transition from the bright exterior to the chamber reveals how Timurid memorial architecture controlled both public display and intimate remembrance.
Later history and interpretation
Compare the portal with neighbouring mausoleums instead of treating all blue façades as one style; chronology and workshop practice vary along the corridor.
