The story
Origins and historical context
Kibla Tozabog was developed as a suburban palace and summer residence during the reign of Muhammad Rahim Khan II in the late nineteenth century.
Architecture and use
Its pavilions and garden setting offered a different court environment from the dense courtyards of Itchan Kala. Local and Russian-influenced details reflect the changing world of the late khanate.
Later history and interpretation
Access and conservation conditions require local confirmation. Treat the palace as a separate excursion and do not promise entry without checking.
Why it matters
Visit Kibla Tozabog Palace to understand a distinct layer of Khiva and Khorezm beyond a checklist of façades.
