The story
Origins and historical context
The baths are associated with Anusha Khan and the seventeenth century, though repairs and later use affected the fabric. Public bathing was an important urban service as well as a social institution.
Architecture and use
A sequence of domed rooms managed temperature, light and water. Much of the architecture sits low and unobtrusively beside more monumental buildings.
Later history and interpretation
Access can be limited. Even from outside, the roofline helps visitors recognise the infrastructure that sustained daily life inside the walled city.
Why it matters
Visit Anusha Khan Baths to understand a distinct layer of Khiva and Khorezm beyond a checklist of façades.
