The story
A distinct lake
Tuzkan is one of the principal water bodies in the Aydar–Arnasay system and lies in Jizzakh Region. It has a distinct geographic identity from the existing cross-regional Aydarkul page.
Changing water landscape
The wider system was transformed by irrigation drainage and major water releases during the twentieth century. Tuzkan had a natural saline basin before becoming connected with the expanded lake system.
Ramsar status
The Aydar–Arnasay Lakes System has been a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention since 2008. Ramsar designation is not UNESCO World Heritage status.
Choose a defined shore
The lake is broad and conditions vary by access point. The map uses a lake planning anchor, not a verified beach, camp, swimming area or public entrance.
Why it matters
It gives Jizzakh a distinct wetland destination without duplicating the catalogue’s existing Aydarkul overview.
