The story
A regional collection
The present institution unites the former local-history and literature-and-art museums. Government reporting describes a collection of more than 156,000 objects, including archaeology, manuscripts, numismatics, ethnography, documents and modern art.
Archaeology of the eastern valley
Material from Mingtepa, Dalvarzintepa, Eylatan and many smaller settlements helps explain why Andijan Region cannot be reduced to Babur alone. The archaeological collection spans a long sequence from early prehistory into the medieval period.
Texts and cultural memory
The manuscript holdings include works in Arabic, Persian, Turkic and Uzbek as well as archival and literary material. Displays may change, so this page does not promise that every named collection will always be on view.
Practical interpretation
The museum is the best city-based orientation before Mingtepa or other archaeological landscapes. Current address, opening arrangements, temporary closures and language support should be checked locally.
Why it matters
It provides the strongest evidence-based overview of Andijan Region’s archaeology and cultural history in one visitor destination.
